4 Wheeling

Last night I did a ton of research on the OHV area near Lakeport called Cow Mountain. Many of the NorCal Crew 4 wheel there. It's only a 20 minute drive from Lakeport and the main road runs along a river bed. Anyhow I planned on checking it out after we visited some friends. Frank & Claudia are Shirl's old time friends and they are in the process of building a house off the grid. So I assummed it was being built in the boonies along some gravel road. Instead we drove all the way to Lucerne and approached this dirt road that winded up and down several ravines and we accidentally missed a turn and ended up on a mountain top over looking Clear Lake. We later find out that we went too far and were on Frank's father's property. To make a long story short, I was using 4Lo and we were 4x4ing all the way with the usual long drop offs, and narrow roads to get to their house. It was a blast and I got my 4x4 fix for the day without going to Cow Mountain! I'm kicking myself after returning home for not taking some spectacular views of the lake and the precarious positions the FJ was in on the trip up! Perhaps next year!
