Tuffy Security Console
So with the impending trip up to Lakeport and to Mendocino with a possible layover midway, I was getting a bit concerned over securing my stuff in the FJ. I've read several reports on the web about people leaving GPS mounts or Radar Detector mounts on the windshield. This was a definate indicator to the thief that these may be stashed under the seat or in the glove compartment, and ready for easy pickens! Unfortunately, the FJ has no secure compartment, but I found a solution, the Tuffy Security Console! It fits right into the rear area console, made of hardened steel with a strong lock. Unfortunately, the Passenger Arm rest will have to be removes, but fortunately the console has a built in arm rest. I received it today, but didn't install it since there was one detail I forgot about! The CB connector is in that area, and stupid me I had recently epoxied the main control box to the inside of the console! I need to figure out if I can remove it and relocate the connector. The other option is the drill a large hole in the Tuffy, but I don't think a CB hanging out of the box is feasible. I'll have to think about this one!
